Hampshire is a delightful county in the south of England that is home to some of the most beautiful areas of countryside in the UK. Much of the stunning New Forest can be found here, as well as lovely coastal towns and villages, seaside resorts and ports and lots of fantastic museums. If you wish to go on a spontaneous holiday somewhere with a lot going on, then taking a last minute romantic break in Hampshire with your loved one is an excellent idea as you can be walking through the stunning gardens of Exbury one day and checking out the historical dockyard at Portsmouth the next.

For quaint villages, Lymington is a lovely place to stay in when visiting Hampshire. There are charming, individual shops and boutiques, little tearooms and ice cream parlours and an absolutely stunning harbour which is great for taking dreamy walks along as you link arms with your partner. Winchester is another fantastic place to visit or stay in, and is home to a medieval cathedral which makes a great afternoon visit, as well as the Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium for those with an interest in space.
You and your loved one may wish to take strolls through idyllic scenery and pretty gardens, and as well as the many that can be found within the New Forest, there are also plenty more to see, including the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens near to the settlement of Romsey. With a wonderful plant collection of species from all over the world, it is lovely to visit and there is a little tearoom housed within the gardens here for a relaxing drink in a serene setting.
There are countless museums on offer in Hampshire, such as the Milestones Museum in Basingstoke. This museum is a brilliant living history museum that tells visitors the story of the local history of the area through vintage cars, a steam locomotive and historical shops, buildings and streets from the late Victorian era.
If you and your partner adore stately homes then Beaulieu which is set in the centre of the New Forest is a lovely one to visit and is home to the National Motor Museum as well, a popular attraction in Hampshire. Vehicle lovers will adore the big collection of cars on display here which tells the history of motoring on British roads through excellent exhibitions.
